Forget The Past
It seems weird, writing an English post on my Turkish blog, but since many of you guys (I mean my friends, specifically Areej) insisted that I write a English post, I wanted to make it special. It will be about what people struggle with the most.. And that is forgetting the past and forgiving ourselves.
Now I know I am not a 40 years old lady who knows everything there is to know about life, but I think what I am about to say comes with maturity.
This was inspired by a Youtube video I watched about forgetting mistakes - which I made notes on in my diary (yes, I keep a secret diary, it has been a habit of mine since the age of 8), please take a moment to read and understand what I am about to say.
Being 18 doesn't make you a experienced human being in fact all along we have made mistakes and we have alot more to experience on the way. If at any point of your life, you feel down (and to be fair, I know many of you guys have depressing nights where you just re-evaluate your existence) please read this post. I hope it encourages and inspires many of you to develop yourselves and remain determined in whatever you wish to achieve.
Things have hurt you and made you cry for nights.. It takes great courage to let go of your past. You have to have enough faith to believe that what is in-front of you is much greater than what was behind you. If you don't learn how to forgive, you can't live. The best gift you can ever give to yourself is forgiving, because if you don't it will just remain as a burden.
You've got to determine, do you want to embrace your destiny or do you want to flutter on the ground in your history?
You will have to make a wise decision; if you want more in the second half of your life than what you had in the first half of your life, then you have to let the first half go. You have to forgive and move on, and eventually forget it. Forgetting isn't easy, not in anyway, but time heals most things and time will allow you to forget most things EVENTUALLY.
Recently, I have started to notice that every moment is beautiful. It must be appreciated because you only live it once. As my dear friend Angelo once said, this moment will never be lived again, its gone and you won't get it back. Have no guilt about anything.
Guilt is the biggest, ugliest, the most damaging sin of all time. Because, you carry it to the moment, so you can't enjoy the moment because you are too busy feeling guilty about things. And, each moment offers its present. Its gift.
Stop wasting your time thinking about what could/should have happened, or what people say about you. What people say about you doesn't define who you are, it doesn't matter. The only thing that threatens your destiny or you in general is what YOU say about yourself.
Don't let the past destroy your opportunities.
This is from a Instagram post I've found but it is relevant so I will include it:
I would like to end this post with my all time favourite authors quote - my childhood hero:
"Rock bottom has been the solid foundation from which I rebuilt my life." -JK Rowling
God bless you all.

"Just be you, express you. Don't think too much, don't take thing too seriously. Don't gossip, don't lose time - because we lose alot of time in love and in silly things. Work on you, work on your projects. Have confidence and love for yourself, because your mind a unique universe, and nobody else has access to that universe. That is why you have the responsibility to do what you have to do, no? You don't have another choice! The only choice is between whether you want to live happy or sad, and if you want to live happy, you have alot of things to do. Keep dreaming, keep working, and nothing will defeat you."
